Millwall, Watford and Portsmouth are reportedly targeting a move for ex-Peterborough midfielder Archie Collins, who is now a free agent following the expiry of his contract.
Archie Collins, 26, departed the Posh at the end of last season, having spent three years with the club, following his £1m move from Exeter City.
An EFL stalwart, the former Exeter academy graduate has made over 300 appearances across League One and League Two so far in his career, as he looks to make the step up to the second tier for the first time.
Predominantly a defensive midfielder, Collins had a strong season in League One last season, chipping in with three goals and seven assists across his 50 appearances in all competitions.
This led to reports of interest from third tier new boys Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday, though it now looks like there is interest from higher in the pyramid.
According to reports from journalist Alan Nixon, Championship sides Millwall, Portsmouth and Watford have all joined the race to secure Collins' signature ahead of next season.
The report also mentions that five League One sides - including the Owls and the Foxes - are also in the race for his signature, making up an eight-club clamour for the 26 year-old.
Oxford United, Huddersfield Town and Reading are the other clubs named by Nixon, giving Collins an array of options to choose from for his next move.
Peterborough were reportedly keen to keep hold of their key man this summer, having offered him a 'lucrative' contract to remain at the club, which Collins turned down in favour of a move elsewhere.
After rejecting the contract on offer 12 months ago, it is said that Peterborough made a conscious effort to earn a fee for the player, but no move ended up transpiring last summer.
