Check out the top ten nominees for the 2017 Ballon d'Or.
Cristiano Ronaldo came out on top in the 2017 rankings, earning 946 points - more than 250 more than his nearest challenger, Lionel Messi.
The Portuguese was coming off a remarkable 2016-17 campaign in which he had led Real Madrid to victory in one of the most successful campaigns in the club's history.
That season Los Blancos won La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Club.
Ronaldo was at the heart of Real's success throughout the campaign, making 46 appearances in all competitions and finishing as the top scorer in the Champions League with 15 goals as the club claimed their 13th title.
At the time the Ballon d'Or was judged on an entire calendar year rather than a single season as it is now, and Ronaldo had made a prolific start to the 2017-18 season as Madrid again went on to reign supreme in Europe.
The 2017 Ballon d'Or marked the fifth and final time he won the award, briefly drawing him level with Lionel Messi before the Argentine was named the winner for a sixth time in 2019.
But who else joined the pair on the 2017 top ten? Read on to find out.
