Millwall have sealed a reported club record move for highly-regarded Belgian starlet Mathis Servais.
The 21-year-old becomes the club's third summer signing with numerous media outlets suggesting he will cost the Lions upwards of the £5 million they agreed with Middlesbrough for Josh Coburn 12 months ago.
The Belgium U21 captain arrives in South London with a rapidly growing reputation having excelled in his one and only campaign with Belgian Pro League side KV Mechelen.
The former Charleroi and Club Brugge youth star signed for Mechelen 12 months ago from SK Beveren, for whom he contributed 10 goals and 11 assists across his two seasons there.
His form alerted numerous other clubs on the continent, with Mechelen eventually winning the race for his signature in a £1 million deal.
However, it's in the Championship that he will now be plying his trade after Millwall fought off serious competition for his signature to add him to Alex Neil's ranks for the 2026/227 Championship campaign.
"We're absolutely delighted to bring Mathis to the club," Steve Gallen, Millwall's Director of Football, told their official website.
"He's young, but plays with real maturity for his age. A Belgian Under 21s international, he can play in a number of positions, but we see him as a central midfielder - athletic, strong and comfortable playing progressively.
"Mathis has been on our radar for a year now, since his move to Mechelen in the Belgian top flight, and we've watched closely as he's progressed there and with the Belgium Under 21s.
"As with any player arriving from abroad, we'll need to be patient as he acclimatises to the team, country and culture, but the potential is exciting and we're really pleased to have him on board.
"Yet again, we have to thank the chairman for his continued support and backing of the team and our club."
Mathis will link-up with his new teammates for training on Monday and follows fellow summer recruits Jenson Metcalfe and Tairyk Arconte through the doors at the Den.
