When was the last time the Seattle Seahawks made the Super Bowl?

The Seattle Seahawks have made their fourth Super Bowl in franchise history - with all appearances coming in the 2000s.

One appearance came in Super Bowl XL in the 2005 season when the Seahawks fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 21-10.

Led by league MVP Shaun Alexander at running back and a ferocious defense which led the NFL in sacks, Seattle went 13-3 to earn the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

Alexander scored a whopping 28 total touchdowns and rushed for 1,880 yards to carry an offense that had Matt Hasselbeck at quarterback and Darrell Jackson, Booby Engram, Joe Jurevicius, and Jerramy Stevens as its leading receivers.

However, Pittsburgh's explosive plays on offense (Willie Parker 75-yard TD run and Hines Ward 43-year TD reception) were too much for Seattle to overcome, making them 0-1 in Super Bowls at the time.

The other two times Seattle made the big game was during the peak of the Legion of Boom era.

The legendary defense destroyed the Denver Broncos' No. 1 ranked offense in 2013 with linebacker Malcolm Smith winning Super Bowl MVP after he had a pick six and a forced fumble.

In an absolute blowout, and the most recent "Scorigami" in the Super Bowl, Seattle won 43-8 for their first ring in franchise history.

The defense, combined with the elite rushing attack of Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson, plus the Wilson moon-balls deep down the field to receivers such as Golden Tate, Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse, and Sidney Rice made these mid-2010 Seahawks one of the most feared teams ever.

When was the last time the Seattle Seahawks made the Super Bowl?

The Seahawks would make it back-to-back appearances as they qualified for Super Bowl XLIX in the 2014 season which, of course, ended in a heartbreak for Seattle fans as they saw Wilson throw a goal-line pick to end the game.

Seattle gets a rematch against New England in Super Bowl LX where each team looks much, much different than the squads they fielded 11 years ago.

This 2025 squad feels eerily similar to those three Seahawks teams that have made the Bowl.

The defense is elite for this iteration of the Seahawks, with fast linebackers, a hard-hitting secondary, and a pass rush that can get to the quarterback from the edge or from inside.

Kenneth Walker II has made his mark felt so far this season - posing an intimidating running game similar to the Alexander and Lynch-led rushing attacks.

Quarterback Sam Darnold plays more similarly to Hasselbeck than he does Wilson, but there is one major difference with this team compared to the previous Super Bowl-appearing Seahawks teams: a true standout at wide receiver.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the heavy favorite to win Offense Player of the Year - he would become the first Seahawk since Alexander to win the award.

JSN is virtually un-guardable. He can line up outside or in the slot, and has the route-running, hands, IQ, speed, and strength all needed to become a premier wideout.

He may only be 6'0 tall, and isn't the fastest in the league, but terrific release off the line of scrimmage and the feel for where his closest defender is make him one of the best deep threats in the league.

His feet are elite near the sideline as he's always aware where the boundary is and manages to get two feet in every time.

Smith-Njigba led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards and also finished with 10 touchdowns. In the NFC Championship, had 10 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown, torching the Los Angeles Rams.

JSN and the Seattle offense will need a big day against a Patriots defense that has shut down all three offenses they have faced this postseason in a major way. He'll most likely be lined up against one of the top corners in the NFL, Christian Gonzalez, in Super Bowl LX.
