Check out the latest odds for Newcastle United to be relegated from the Premier League with captain Bruno Guimaraes set to depart.
Newcastle's summer goes from bad to worse with the news of their captain's impending exit to Arsenal, just a week after Eddie Howe stepped down as coach.
While Matthias Jaissle is a hugely promising coach, his arrival combined with the sales of Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Guimaraes represents one of several significant changes on Tyneside over the summer with very little continuity between last season and this.
Guimaraes has been a mainstay of the Newcastle midfield since his arrival from Lyon in January 2022 and became an instant hit at St James' Park, scoring 30 times in his 153 Premier League appearances.
While a £75m fee for a midfielder who will turn 29 in November represents good business for Newcastle, it hugely impacts their short-term aspirations of returning to Europe.
The Magpies needed a number of reinforcements before selling players, and the exits of Tonali, Guimaraes and Gordon have only hastened that requirement, with their summer signings so far made up of young, unproven talents in the shape of Bazoumana Traore, Aladji Bamba, Lukas Hornicek, Sean Steur and Ewen Jaouen.

Newcastle finished 12th in the Premier League last season, their worst league placement since Howe took the reins in November 2021.
Following a 2-0 defeat by Fulham on the final day, the frustration was palpable from Howe as he assessed their campaign.
"There have been a lot of bruises this season," he said.
"It's something we need to address and we need to address it very quickly."
The summer rebuild Howe referred to is yet to come to fruition and Newcastle could find themselves in a precarious position in the coming campaign with the loss of their long-term head coach and several key players.
The club's last season in the Championship came exactly a decade ago in 2016-17, as they were promoted as champions just one year after slipping into the second tier.
At the end of last season Newcastle were 40/1 to be relegated at the end of the 2026/27 season when the market first opened.
Since then the price dropped to 20/1 before shortening again to 12/1 when the reports of Howe's departure emerged and they've been backed into 9/1 with the news of Guimaraes's departure.
Newcastle were popular for relegation before news of Eddie Howe's reported departure, but we're motoring towards 1,000 bets taken since they kicked off v Bristol City last night.
