Rangers v Hibernian Prediction: 11/8 Hibs can secure positive result

Rangers will be looking to overcome a poor start to the season when they welcome Hibernian to Ibrox on Sunday afternoon.

The Light Blues suffered defeat against Polish side Jagiellonia Bialystok in the first leg of their Europa League qualifying tie on Thursday, which followed a 1-1 draw with Dundee United in their Premiership opener.

Pressure is now firmly on Derek McInnes, but he might be hopeful that Rangers can kickstart their season now they play their first game at Ibrox.

Hibs sealed an important win in midweek, netting a last-minute winner against Shkendija in Conference League qualifying, although they fell to a 2-1 home defeat to Motherwell in their league opener.

Rangers v Hibernian

Rangers v Hibernian Prediction

Best Bet: Both teams to score @ 4/6

McInnes hasn’t exactly endured the greatest of starts at Rangers, although it is still early doors and more signings are likely in the coming weeks.

One area that needs some improvement is the defence. Rangers have already conceded three goals in their opening two games of the season, with the backline making several mistakes.

Ben Godfrey has been ruled out for around four week after sustaining a hamstring injury against Dundee United, which meant Ross McCrorie moved into the heart of defence against Jagiellonia, although his partnership with Emmanuel Fernandez was not great and will take time to gel.

Rangers' defensive issues should give Hibs plenty of confidence, especially as they have scored in three of their last four games in all competitions.

Both teams have scored in Rangers’ last 10 competitive matches dating back to the end of the last term and given their recent defensive frailties, expect this streak to continue.

Alternative Bet: Draw or Hibernian double chance @ 11/8

Hibs will not be cowed by the task at hand and they look excellent value to at least avoid defeat on Sunday.

The capital club has lost only three of the last eight games against Rangers, and none of the last two, having won on their last trip to Ibrox at the end of last season.

Hibs also won at the Gers in April in 2025 and with three draws in the last eight games too, they can pick up another positive result.

McInnes snared his former captain at Hearts, Lawrence Shankland, earlier this summer, although he is still waiting to register his first goal of the campaign.

He does, however, have a great record against Hibs. During his four seasons with Hearts, Shankland netted seven times against the Easter Road outfit and will be desperate to add another against his former derby rivals

Given Godfrey's injury, McCrorie is likely to start at centre-back once again.

He was booked against Dundee United last week and with this Hibs side likely to show no fear and plenty of attacking intent, McCrorie may well end up in the book again.

Both teams have seen plenty of goals during the opening weeks of the season. A total of 13 goals have been scored in Hibs' four games, while five goals have featured in the opening two Rangers games.
