The inaugural match of the group stage round for Group D has the United States squaring off against Paraguay at the 2026 World Cup.
The wait is finally almost over for US soccer fans - the match kicks-off at 9:00 p.m. ET / 8:00 p.m. CT / 6:00 p.m. PT from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA.
While the United States’ recent results have not looked good leading into the competition, the co-hosts have been battle-hardened by some tough recent friendlies and they should be more than ready to take on Paraguay in Los Angeles.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have had four games in 2026, beating Senegal while being on the wrong end of the scoreboard against the likes of Belgium, Portugal, and Germany.
While the results may not have gone their way, those matches have provided valuable experience against elite-level opposition ahead of a tournament on home soil.
Paraguay has managed to win three of their last seven games, with their victories coming against Mexico, Greece, and Nicaragua.
Now, it's time for the real thing to begin. These two national teams met back in November, which resulted in a 2-1 American victory. Many of this United States squad played in that game and, now backed by the largely home crowd, Pochettino’s men are looking to have a winning start to the 2026 World Cup.
Below is a look at the odds for the top-ten most-favored goal scorers for the United States' first group stage match, provided by bet365:
