The St. Louis Cardinals were founded in the late 1880s, originally as the St. Louis Browns, and the franchise has enjoyed plenty of success in its long history.
The Browns played in four of the era's pro baseball championship series in which they played against the Chicago White Stockings (now the Cubs), which sparked the longtime rivalry between the two clubs.
The Cardinals have won 11 modern-day World Series championships, the second-most in MLB behind the New York Yankees. The team has produced 21 league MVPs, including Albert Pujols, Rogers Hornsby, Stan Musial, and plenty more.
It's been 15 years since their last World Series championship, and the currently in somewhat of a rebuild. The lineup is relatively young and features a few budding superstars.
The Cardinals are in the NL Central division where they compete against the Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, and Milwaukee Brewers.
