Cadillac F1: Constructors Profile

All you need to know about the Cadillac F1 team.

The F1 World Championship has seen 20 cars from 10 teams battling it out for the last decade, but for the first time since 2016 there will be 11 teams on the grid in 2026.

The newcomers are the American team of Cadillac F1, who have made a promising start to their new venture by getting their all-new car on the track in time for pre-season testing and carrying out some solid running in the two official tests at Bahrain.

It's not technically Cadillac's first involvement in Formula 1, as several Cadillac cars attempted to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 when it was an official round of the F1 championship in the early 1950s, but to all intents and purposes this is the famous marque's first venture into the most famous series in auto racing.

The team have gone for an experienced driver line-up for their first campaign and it will be interesting to see how they progress in their debut season, with American fans in particular keen to see them mixing it with the most famous names in the sport.

The Cadillac F1 team will operate from four facilities, in Indiana, North Carolina and Michigan in the United States and Silverstone in the UK, with an all-new building in Fishers, Indianapolis, being their official headquarters.

Current Drivers

Cadillac are the newcomers on the F1 grid but they have announced the most experienced driver line-up in the pit-lane for the 2026 season with Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez forming their first driver pairing.

Valtteri Bottas

Valtteri Bottas, aged 36, has raced in Formula 1 for 12 seasons, sitting out the 2025 campaign after losing his seat at Mercedes to teenager Kimi Antonelli.

The flying Finn has shown plenty of speed throughout his career after making his breakthrough for Williams in the 2013 season having won the GP3 title in 2011.

He scored his first career points in the 2013 United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas when finishing eighth, and finished fourth in the championship in just his second season when earning six podium finishes in 2014.

Bottas moved to the successful Mercedes team in 2017 after world champion Nico Rosberg retired and won his first F1 race in his fourth race for his new employers in the Russian Grand Prix, adding further victories in Austria and Abu Dhabi on his way to third in the standings.

He finished runner-up in the championship in the dominant Mercedes in both 2019 and 2020, and earned the last of his 10 F1 wins to date in the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix.

After losing his seat to George Russell, he moved on to Alfa Romeo for 2022 and 2023 and spent 2024 with Sauber.

After a year off to recharge his batteries, Bottas is back and a known quantity who can provide Cadillac with an excellent idea of where they stand in their first campaign.

Sergio Perez

Mexican driver Sergio Perez, 36, has raced in F1 for 14 seasons after finishing runner-up in the 2010 GP2 series.

Nicknamed 'Checo', he raced for Sauber, McLaren, Force India and Racing Point, earning a reputation as a driver who is particularly good at protecting his tyres on long race stints.

He earned his first race win in the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix for Racing Point from fifth on the grid on his way to fourth place in the championship.

That earned him his big break as he was chosen to partner Max Verstappen at Red Bull, where he won the 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, with his street-track prowess bringing him wins at Monaco and Singapore in 2022.

Two victories in 2023 helped him to the runner-up spot in the championship but a relatively poor 2024 campaign, when he finished eighth, led to him losing his seat.

Team Principal

Graeme Lowdon

Briton Graeme Lowdon, 60, has a wealth of F1 experience, having worked with newcomers Virgin Racing in 2010-11, who subsequently became Marussia Racing, where he stayed until 2015.

He was announced as Cadillac team principal in 2024 and has been steering their journey to the F1 grid since then.

Ownership

Cadillac, the first new F1 venture since Haas in 2016, is owned by General Motors.

The team announced that they plan to manufacture their own engines by the 2029 season, but until then they will use Ferrari engines.

Notable Achievements

None - Cadillac will debut in the 2026 F1 season.
