Mercedes F1: Constructors Profile

All you need to know about the Mercedes F1 team.

The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team is a German Licensed, British based Formula 1 team.

Mercedes is one of the most successful teams in F1 history, and had the most dominant run in F1 history; winning eight consecutive Constructors' World Championships from 2014-2021.

Mercedes first popped onto the Formula 1 scene in 1954. They won the World Championship with Jaun Manuel Fangio in both 1954 and 1955, but withdrew from the sport after the 1955 Le Mans disaster.

They returned to the sport in 1994 as an engine supplier for Sauber which turned into a partnership with McLaren.

The German car manufacturer then bought the Brawn GP team at the end f the 2009 season, and proceeded to rebrand the team into the modern Mercedes F1 team.

Mercedes has been incredibly successful since returning to F1, and experienced one of the most lucrative and most dominant runs in F1 history with Toto Wolff, Lewis Hamilton, and Valtteri Bottas.

Hamilton won six World Championships, 84 Grand Prix, and 153 podiums in 12 season with Mercedes. He is the most successful driver in Mercedes history, and one of the most decorated drivers of all time. As a 40-year-old, he now drives for Ferrari.

The Mercedes F1 cars are developed at their Brackley and Brixworth facilities in the UK.

Current Drivers

Mercedes confirmed that they will be running back their 2025 duo of George Russell and Kimi Antonelli in 2026.

Both drivers are graduates of the team's junior system, having joined the program in 2017 and 2019 respectively.

"Confirming our driver line-up was always just a matter of when, not if," said Toto Wolf.

George Russell

Russell, 28, will be entering his eighth season in F1, and fifth season with Mercedes.

Russell is a British international who has won five Grand Prix in his career, and earned 24 podiums.

2025 was Russell's most successful season of his career. He had two Grand Prix wins in Canada and Singapore, and nine podiums.

Kimi Antonelli

Antonelli, 19, is entering his sophomore F1 season with Mercedes. The Italian driver is the son of the racing driver, Marco Antonelli.

Kimi's earned the podium of his young career at the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix where he finished third. He then went on to earn his highest F1 finish (2nd) in Brazil, and secured third place in Las Vegas for a total of three podium finishes in his rookie season.

Team Principal

Toto Wolff

Wolff is a 54-year-old Austrian billionaire who has been the Mercedes team principal and CEO since 2013, and led the team to their unprecedented success in the 2010s.

Wolff is a former racing driver, and has been involved in racing for nearly his entire life. In 2020 Wolff acquired a stake in Aston Martin.

Ownership

The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team in co-owned by three equal partners who all hold a one third stake in the team.
