Boston Red Sox Tie Second Longest Win Streak in Team History

The Boston Red Sox are the hottest team in the MLB, and have tied the franchises second longest win streak.

The Red Sox win streak has reached 13 games, and is the first such streak in Boston's history since 1948.

The Red Sox longest win streak in the history of the team reached 15 games in 1946.

Boston tied their second longest win streak by completing a four game series sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. Sonny Gray (12-1) gave up one run and five hits in the fourth game of the series, and has not allowed more than three runs since April 14th.

Willson Contreras has been the leading force in Boston for the win streak. Contreras is batting .286 with four home runs and 11 RBI during the win streak.

Wilyer Abreu and Ceddane Rafaela have also been major contributors. Abreu has 12 hits, five home runs and 12 runs scored, and Rafaela has 16 hits, and 9 runs scored during the 13-game win streak.

The Washington Nationals dominated the Sox by a combined score of 18-3 across two games on June 30th and July 1st, but Boston has since completed sweeps against the Angels, White Sox, Mets, and Rays.

The Red Sox will now enter a three game series against the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park.
