Watford are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign an Italian goalkeeper who played UEFA Europa League football last season.
The seemingly never-ending revolving door of managers at Vicarage Road continued last season as both Paulo Pezzolano and Javi Garcia were sacked in a season that saw interim coach Edward Still guide the club to a 16th-place finish in the Championship.
Alessio Dionisi was appointed on a two-year deal last month and it appears the Italian will use his knowledge of Serie A to strengthen his team ahead of the coming campaign.
According to a report from Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Watford are looking to secure a deal to sign Federico Ravaglia from Bologna, with negotiations between the two parties ongoing.
Bologna are said to have already received multiple approaches for the 26-year-old goalkeeper this summer, but they favour moving him on permanently rather than on loan.
A product of the club's academy, Ravaglia enjoyed an extended spell as first-choice between the sticks last season, making 16 Serie A starts as manager Vincenzo Italiano alternating between him and Polish international Lukasz Skorupski.
Ravaglia also made five appearances in Bologna's run to the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals, playing in their dramatic last 16 second leg win over Roma and both fixtures in the quarterfinals as they were dumped out by eventual winners Aston Villa.
In all, he has made 48 appearances in all competitions for his boyhood club and currently has two years remaining on his contract at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara.
Norway international Egil Selvik served as the Hornets' No 1 last season, with Nathan Baxter serving as his understudy through the campaign.
Baxter is expected to leave Watford this summer amid interest from League One side Plymouth Argyle.
