Leeds United forward Harry Gray is reportedly set to leave the club in the summer transfer window and Sheffield United are amongst the Championship teams eyeing a potential swoop.
Leeds insider Elland Back took to X to report that "Sheffield United are emerging as the frontrunners to secure Harry Gray on loan from Leeds, with the Blades' recruitment department intensifying talks ahead of their 2026-27 Championship campaign".
The report added that "Derby County and Swansea City have both monitored Gray since January 2026, while League One side Charlton Athletic (who have been chasing his signature since January) continue to push for a loan".
Harry became the fifth member of the Gray family to play for Leeds United when making his senior debut in the club's 6-0 victory over Stoke City in the 2024/25 season, following in the footsteps of brother Archie Gray, father Andy Gray, grandfather Frank Gray and great uncle Eddie Gray.
Chances have come few and far between for the Harrogate-born prospect however, playing the first half of the 2025/26 term for Leeds' U21s before completing a six-month loan switch to League One outfit Rotherham United.
The Millers failed to win in both of Gray's first two appearances for the club, but he subsequently scored in back-to-back games as the South Yorkshire outfit secured wins over Northampton Town and Exeter City.
The striker went 12 league games without a goal after finding the net at St James Park on 31st January, but he returned to the scoresheet in Rotherham's 2-0 win over Leyton Orient on 18th April.
His efforts and goalscoring contributions were not enough to keep Rotherham in the third tier, finishing 23rd on 41 points and relegated to League Two for the first time since 2007.
While it was a tough season for the club, it was Gray's first real taste of senior football and the belief is that he can play a part in the second tier after a promising introduction to the EFL.
There's no reports as of yet to suggest that Leeds will sanction a permanent sale of Gray, but manager Daniel Farke has reportedly made it clear that the prospect won't feature regularly for Leeds in the Premier League next season and so a loan move appears to suit all parties.
