Leeds United are set to be rivalled by Premier League competitors Crystal Palace and Fulham in their pursuit of Southampton midfielder Shea Charles.
The Whites have already pulled off one major coup this summer with the acquisition of Harry Wilson on a free transfer as they look to build on their 14th place finish in the Premier League last season.
Central midfield is one department Daniel Farke is keen to address before the new campaign commences and the club have identified Southampton starlet Charles as a priority target.
Leeds have had multiple bids rejected for the 22-year-old, with their most recent offer being in the region of £23 million plus add-ons.
According to talkSPORT's Alex Crook, both Crystal Palace and Fulham have joined the race in light of Leeds' latest rejection.
Fulham intend to splash the cash following Alvaro Arbeloa's appointment as they aim to challenge the top half of the Premier League, while Palace are looking to futureproof their midfield whilst improving squad depth as they compete on the Europa League stage next season.
Charles is considered one of Southampton's most profitable assets and the Saints are determined not to sell below their valuation of the midfielder.
The Manchester City academy graduate enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday during the 2024/25 season before returning to St Mary's last term, where he played a pivotal role in Tonda Eckert's side achieving a Championship play-off berth.
Charles made 38 appearances in all competitions and scored the winning goal in the FA Cup victory over Arsenal, along with the play-off semi-final against Middlesbrough.
It's understood Southampton are looking for at least £30m to prise Charles away from the Hampshire coast.
The Championship outfit signed Charles from Manchester City in July 2023 in a deal worth up to £15m and the Citizens inserted a clause where they're due 15% profit on any future sale.
Charles is contracted to Southampton until next summer with the option of a further year.
