How much money will the Championship play-off winners get as Hull City & Middlesbrough gear-up for Wembley showdown?

So it's confirmed, this weekend's Championship play-off final will be contested by Hull City and Middlesbrough.

Hull produced a sublime showing to dispose of Millwall 2-0 in the second leg of their semi-final in South London, whilst Middlesbrough have been reinstated after the EFL opted to expel Southampton.

Both sides have recorded a win apiece across the regular campaign, and now they will lock horns for a third time in a truly gargantuan winner-takes-all affair in the capital on Saturday.

The reward for the winner, a spot in the Premier League for the 2026/27 campaign as well as a sizeable financial reward.

The promotion decider has been valued at between £100 million and £200 million over the past decade, but this year's encounter will set new ground, with a remarkable £220 million on offer for the winning club.

The money will be earned as a share of the Premier League's recently renegotiated broadcasting agreement, whereby they struck a £6.7 billion agreement until 2029.

In addition to that, the victors will also be eligible to receive centralised commercial fees, facility fees and merit payments, whilst they will also pocket potential parachute payments should they drop back down to the Championship.

It's also understood that both Hull City and Middlesbrough will pick up a seven-figure fee for gate receipts from the Wembley showpiece, with over 80,000 spectators expected to sell out the venue.
