Rangers v Jagiellonia Bialystok Prediction: Poles 3/1 to keep McInnes waiting

Jagiellonia Bialystok head to Ibrox on Thursday evening for the second leg of their Europa League third-round qualifier clash against Rangers.

Gers have it all to do when the Poles visit, with Derek McInnes' side needing to overturn a 2-1 deficit from the first leg to reach the Europa League play-off round.

The Gers made the perfect start in Bialystok when Guilherme Montoia turned Tuur Rommens' cross into his own net, but two goals from Kajetan Szmyt exposed Rangers' defensive weaknesses and gave the Polish side a slender advantage.

Rangers have since suffered another frustrating result, losing 2-1 at home to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership, meaning Derek McInnes is still waiting for his first competitive victory as manager.

However, the second half in Poland showed enough attacking promise to suggest the Scots can turn the tie around at Ibrox, though the Poles proved their mettle last time out and look good value in the draw no bet market.

With the hosts needing to attack from the outset, this should be an entertaining second leg.

Rangers v Jagiellonia Bialystok Prediction

Best Bet: Jagiellonia Bialystok Draw no bet @ 3/1

Jagiellonia look overpriced in the draw-no-bet market given the advantage they take into the second leg.

The Polish side showed in the first meeting that they can cause Rangers plenty of problems, particularly when they are able to exploit mistakes in the Gers defence.

Kajetan Szmyt took full advantage of two defensive errors to score both of Jagiellonia's goals.

Rangers will have to be much better at Ibrox, but they have started the McInnes era without a victory and were beaten by Hibernian at the weekend.

Jagiellonia have already demonstrated that they can compete with Rangers and have won three of their opening four matches this season. With a draw also returning the stake, backing the visitors looks an attractive proposition.

Alternative Bet: Both teams to score @ 5/6

Both teams to score looks a strong option given the defensive problems Rangers have experienced at the start of the new campaign.

The Gers have scored and conceded in all three of their competitive matches this season, while both teams have found the net in each of Rangers' last 11 competitive games stretching back into last season.

Jagiellonia have also scored in three of their four matches this term and demonstrated their attacking threat in the first leg, recovering from an early own goal to score twice and take control of the tie.

McInnes' men cannot afford to sit back at Ibrox, with a 2-1 deficit to overturn, which should create opportunities at both ends of the pitch.

Jagiellonia are unlikely to simply defend their lead and can exploit any spaces left by the hosts, making goals at both ends an appealing selection.

Rangers v Jagiellonia Bialystok Bet Builder Tip

  • Over 2.5 goals

  • Over 9.5 corners

  • Most Goals in 2nd half

    Pays 5/1

The first leg produced three goals and another open contest could be in store at Ibrox.

Rangers need to score at least once to level the tie and will have to commit players forward if they are to progress, while Jagiellonia have already shown they possess enough attacking quality to punish mistakes on the counter.

The corner count should also be higher than the six produced in Poland. Rangers' league meeting with Hibernian produced 10 corners, while there were 15 in their game against Dundee United.

Jagiellonia have also seen 11 corners in their most recent league match, having recorded six and nine in their previous two.

With Rangers likely to increase the pressure as the match progresses, the second half can produce the most goals.
