Reigning Scottish Premiership champions Celtic have reportedly submitted an improved bid for Swedish defender Zinedin Smajlović, as they look to beat a host of clubs to his signature.
According to transfer expert Rudi Galetti via X, Celtic have submitted a revised bid in the region of €4.5m fixed + €2m in add-ons for the Sandefjord defender.
The report mentions that the Norwegian side are under no pressure to sell their prized asset this summer, with no less than eight clubs named as having an interest in signing the 22 year-old.
The Scottish Premiership champions reportedly face competition from Olympiacos, Hull City, Rangers, Fenerbahçe, Toulouse, Feyenoord & Lyon, who have all made enquiries about the Swede, but are yet to make an official bid.
It is yet to be confirmed whether or not Celtic's bid will be accepted for their target, however it is likely that the Glasgow-based side will face a tough battle to secure his signature.
Hull City, who earned promotion back to the Premier League last season, are one of the teams named as having an interest in Smajlović, and are likely to cause problems in Celtic's pursuit of the centre back.
Having initially broken through at Täby FK in his native Sweden, Smajlović moved to Italian side Lecce for €100k in 2023, before returning to his homeland on a free transfer two years later, joining Sandvikens IF.
Sandefjord then picked him up in February 2025 on a free transfer, in a move which has seen Smajlović establish himself as a top defender.
A Swedish youth international, Smajlović has made 36 appearances in the Eliteserien - the Norwegian top flight - since moving to the club, registering an impressive five goal contributions from central defence.
While a relative unknown in British football, Zinedin Smajlović is highly rated in Scandinavia and is likely to be an exciting pick-up for whichever team wins the race for his signature.
