The Korea Republic performed well at the 2022 World Cup, making it out of the Group Stage after going 1-1-1.
Korea Republic drew with Uruguay 0-0, fell to Ghana 2-3, and beat Portugal in an impressive 2-1 victory.
The team made it to the elimination Round of 16 where they lost to Brazil 1-4. Cho Gue-Sung led the squad with two goals, both coming against Ghana in their loss.

South Korea has come out of the group stage three different times in 2002, 2010, and 2022. The country's best finish came in 2002 when the World Cup was hosted by Japan and South Korea.
In 2002, they finished in first place in Group D, beating Poland and Portugal and drawing with the United States. Korea then beat Italy 2-1 in the Round of 16 and knocked off Spain in penalties in the quarter-finals. Ultimately, South Korea fell to Germany in Seoul, 1-0, and finished in fourth place.
Korea Republic has appeared in 15 Asian Cups, winning two of them. In fact, the country won the first two Asian Cups in history, in 1956 and 1960. Since then, Korea Republic has finished as the runners-up four different times, most recently in 2015, and finished in third place three more times.
Although the team didn't qualify in 2024, Korea's u-23 squad has performed well at the Olympics, making it out of the group stage in four of its last five appearances.
Korea Republic's best finish came in the 2012 London Games when it won the bronze medal. That year's team made it out of the group stage, beat Great Britain in the quarter-finals, lost to Brazil in the semi-finals, then beat Japan in the bronze medal match.
Hong Myung-Bo is Korea Republic's manager, holding that position since he was hired in 2024.
