Ghana Men's National Team Profile

The Ghana men's national team is looking to make an impact at the 2026 World Cup - its fifth appearance since 2006.

Ghana has had a relatively successful history in soccer, winning the Africa Cup of Nations four times, and finishing as the runners-up five more times.

Ghana even made history in 2009 when it became the first African country to win the U-20 World Cup, defeating Brazil in the final.

How to Watch the Ghana Men's National Team in the World Cup

All of Ghana's World Cup matches will be broadcast on either FS1 or Fox for an English broadcast, and Telemundo for a Spanish broadcast. Their matches will also all be available to stream on Peacock.

Previous World Cup Summary (2022)

Ghana suffered its second straight group stage exit at the World Cup in 2022, falling to Portugal and Uruguay, but knocking off South Korea 3-2.

Ghana World Cup History

Ghana qualified for its first World Cup in 2006 and have since made it in 2010, 2014, 2022, and now 2026.

Ghana's best World Cup campaign came in 2010 when they reached the quarter-finals. They became just the third African team to make it to the quarters, but lost against Uruguay in a penalty shootout.

In 2006, Ghana was the youngest team in the entire tournament, but advanced past the knockout stages before losing to Brazil in the Round of 16.

Ghana AFCON History

Ghana had great success at the Africa Cup of Nations in the mid-1900s, winning the AFCON in 1963, 1965, 1978, and 1982.

The team has also been runners-up at the competition five times (1968, 1970, 1992, 2010, and 2015).

Ghana Soccer Olympics History

Ghana has had a successful history competing in soccer at the Olympics, notably becoming the first African nation to win a medal in soccer with bronze in 1992 in Barcelona.

After making it through the group stage, Ghana beat Paraguay 4-2, then lost to Spain 0-2 in the quarterfinals.

Ghana also qualified in soccer in 2004 in Athens, but fell in the group stage.

Ghana Soccer Manager

Portuguese manager Carlos Queiroz was hired in April 2026 to lead Ghana at the World Cup.

He replaced Otto Addo after a poor run of results. Queiroz has plenty of managerial experience, including previous roles at Qatar, Iran, Egypt, Colombia, and Real Madrid.
