How to Watch the Senegal Men's National Team in the World Cup

Previous World Cup Summary (2022)

Senegal was impressive at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, making it to the Round of 16 after getting out of the group round with a 2-1 record.

The team lost to the Netherlands 0-2, but beat Ecuador 2-1 and Qatar 3-1 to finish top two in Group A to make it to their first Round of 16 appearance since 2002.

Senegal World Cup History

As mentioned previously, Senegal made the quarterfinals in its first World Cup appearance in 2002, knocking off Sweden in Round of 16 before finally falling to Turkey.

In the group stage, Senegal famously beat defending-champion France 1-0, knocking the dominant team out in the group stage.

In 2018, they finished third in their group after beating Poland, by drawing against Japan and losing to Colombia.

2022 was a success, escaping the group stage before falling in the Round of 16.

Senegal AFCON History

Senegal's first appearance in AFCON came in 1965, finishing in fourth place.

They didn't make it to the championship game until 2002, but they've been one of Africa's premier teams since.

Senegal won the AFCON title in 2021, beating Egypt in penalties. In 2002, 2019 and 2025, Senegal finished as runners-up.

Senegal Soccer Olympics History

Senegal's soccer team has made the Olympics once - in 2012.

They had a fantastic run, drawing with Great Britain and United Arab Emirates, and beating Uruguay in the group stage.

Ultimately Senegal nearly medaled, losing to Mexico 4-2 in the quarterfinals.
