Seven years after being drafted with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals will release quarterback Kyler Murray when the new league year begins on March 11th.
Murray, 28, won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award and made two Pro Bowls, but a string of injuries and inconsistency throwing the ball led the Cardinals to choosing to go with a different option.
His best season came in 2020 when he threw for 3,971 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, while adding another 819 yards and 11 touchdown scores on the ground.
He only played in five games last year and finished with 962 yards, seven total touchdowns, and three picks.
Overall, the Cardinals went 38-48-1 with Murray as the starter and only appeared in one playoff game.
New offensive-minded head coach Mike LaFleur will get his pick at quarterback moving forward and it'll be interesting to see who the former Los Angeles Rams OC selects to lead the future of the Cardinals.
Murray will also somewhat get his pick on where he wants to go when he becomes a free agent in a week.
Let's dive into the odds for the top-ten teams most likely to sign Murray on bet365:

As expected, teams with serious question marks at QB are at the top of the list. While Murray hasn't been especially productive or healthy recently, there's still some talent in there that made him the former No. 1 overall pick.
He still has quick feet and is relatively accurate while having the ability to create plays out of nothing. Perhaps Kevin O'Connell of the Minnesota Vikings (+350) believes he can turn around Murray's career similarly to Sam Darnold in 2024.
Murray would enter a QB competition with 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy who hasn't given the organization much confidence that he can be a franchise QB moving forward.
The New York Jets (+375) are planning to release 2025 starter Justin Fields after they had one of the worst offenses in league history last year.
The addition of Murray could provide a spark to a franchise that has needed one for a long time. Unlike with Fields, at least they'll be able to run an actual offense with more timing-based routes.
The Miami Dolphins (+425) are also offloading their former first-round pick at quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, either via trade or release. Murray and Tua are about the same size, but Murray will be able to create more out-of-structure plays for Miami.
New head coach Mike McCarthy and the Pittsburgh Steelers (+700) are still in limbo with the uncertainty of if Aaron Rodgers will come back for another year or retire.
If Rodgers retires, Pittsburgh would have Will Howard and Mason Rudolph as QBs on the roster. Of course, they also have the 21st overall pick which they could use on Ty Simpson or another rookie QB. Signing Murray would at least give Pittsburgh more flexibility in building their roster and they could use the first-rounder on another position of need.
The rest of the teams on the list would most likely bring Murray in as a backup. The Colts (+750) used the transition tag on Daniel Jones to ensure that he will come back in 2026, while the Falcons (+950) could light a fire under Michael Penix Jr. by bringing in serious competition.
The Ravens (+1000), Commanders (+1200), Rams (+1400), and Chiefs (+1600) would all have a talented backup option in case their respective star QB suffers an injury.
