Although her health status remains tenuous, when Caitlin Clark does get on the court for Indiana Fever, she is producing.
Clark and the Fever, winners of three straight and 4 of 5, travel to San Francisco on Thursday evening to take on the Golden State Valkyries at 10 p.m. ET.
After missing one game with back issues, Clark returned with a vengeance, making four 3-pointers and scoring 22 points, to go along with 9 assists as Indiana defeated Golden State at home on Friday, 90-82. She has led the Fever in scoring in each of the last four games she has played in.
Aliyah Boston had 20 points and 16 rebounds, while Kelsey Mitchell went 11-for-11 from the free-throw line and added 19 points. Sophia Cunningham chipped in with 11 points as Indiana shot 46% (29 for 63) from the field, including 38% (10 for 26) from beyond the arc.
Tiffany Hayes had 19 points off the bench to lead Golden State. Kaitlyn Chen also came off the bench to score 18 points for the Valkyries, followed by Veronica Burton with 17. The Valkyries were in the second half of a back-to-back after defeating New York on Thursday night, 87-70.
Golden State got back in the win column with a 97-70 beatdown of lowly Connecticut on Monday. Gabby Williams led the way with 15 points, Kaila Charles had 12 points and 7 rebounds, and Burton contributed 11 points and 6 assists.
Tonight is Indiana’s first game since last Friday. The Valkyries took 3 of 4 in this series last year as a WNBA expansion team and Indiana is now looking to return the favor in 2026.
Golden State was a 1.5-point dog earlier in the week, but the Valkyries are now 2.0-point favorites, with a -130 moneyline, while Indiana is +110.
The Valkyries are 2-1 straight up and against the spread at home, while Indiana is 1-0 straight up and against the spread on the road. This is the first time in more than two weeks that the Fever have had to play away from home.
This will be a solid matchup of strength against strength and weakness against weakness. The Fever lead the league in scoring at 93.7 points per game, while Golden State is only allowing 76.3 points per contest, best in the WNBA.
At the opposite end of the court, the Valkyries are just ninth in the league, averaging 85.8 points per game, while, Indiana is allowing 87 points per contest, tied for eighth.
On paper, this looks to be an Indiana victory, especially with Clark scoring 23.8 points per game, good for third in the league, and Mitchell right behind her at 22.3.
However, Golden State consistently finds ways to win when it shouldn’t. The Valkyries are back home, fresh, and ready to get some revenge. Look for the Valkyries to win tonight.
The Fever have played to the under in 8 of their last 10 road contests. Although Golden State has played to the over in 4 of 6 games this season, its defense should do just enough to keep this total just under 167.0 points.
