The Orlando Magic can pull off a historic first round upset if they can knock off the Detroit Pistons later tonight.
Just six No. 8 seeds have managed to win the series against the No. 1 seed since the NBA playoffs expanded to 16 teams in 1984. The Magic, up 3-1 in the series, are looking to become the seventh.
They have a big-time challenge ahead of them - the Pistons are at home and desperate, and the Magic lost their second leading scorer (in the regular season) in Game 4.
Franz Wagner injured his right calf in the third quarter of Monday's game and didn't play in the fourth quarter, but Orlando's defense shut the door on Detroit and managed to pull out a win.
Now, Orlando might need to put together a full game without Wagner in Game 5.
The Magic forward is officially listed as questionable tonight, with initial reports stating that his status will depend on how his calf responds to treatment.
Update: Franz Wagner has been ruled OUT for Game 5.
Wagner missed 48 games during the regular season as he battled a nagging ankle sprain, but he was terrific in the 34 games that he did play in. He averaged 20.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while shooting 48.1% from the field in those games.
In four games in the playoffs against the Pistons this year, Wagner is averaging 16.8 points and is shooting 43.9% from the field and 33.3% from three.
