LeBron James signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the 76ers on the morning of Friday, July 24th.
Earlier in July, the Philadelphia 76ers acquired Jaylen Brown in a trade which sent Paul George and draft picks to the Boston Celtics.
With LeBron James and Brown joining an established core of Joel Embiib, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe in Philadelphia, it's easy to question if the 76ers will trot out the best starting lineup of all-time in the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season.
Other than the 1986 Celtics (Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Dennis Johnson, and Danny Ainge) or the 2018 Golden State Warriors (Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and DeMarcus Cousins) this might be one of the best starting lineups on paper.
Lets take a look at the 76ers possible starting five:
Bench: Labaron Philon Jr., Duke Miles
Bench: Anfernee Simons, Caleb Love, Tyrese Martin
Bench: Trendon Watford, Justin Edwards, Jabari Walker, Dalen Terry
Bench: Dean Wade, Dominick Barlow, Johni Broome
Bench: Adem Bona, Ariel Hukporti
The issue for Philadelphia is whether the whole team will stay healthy, since LeBron and particularly Embiid have missed significant time in recent seasons due to injury.
If all players were in their prime and healthy, this would be the best starting lineup ever assembled.
