Folarin Balogun is back in action for team USA at the 2026 World Cup, and will looking to add to his goal tally against Australia on Friday.
Folarin Balogun was the star for the United States National Team in the first match against Paraguay, scoring two goals, and threatening for even more.
Balogun's two goals against Paraguay was the first time that an American player scored two or more goals in a World Cup match since 1930. Bert Patenaude was the last player to score 2+ goals in the tournament, when he scored a hat trick against the same Paraguayan opposition.
Balogun showed an ability to stretch Paraguay's defence with his speed and well timed runs in to the box, but also played well with the ball at his feet, creating chances for himself.
The 24-year-old forward cemented his starting role under Mauricio Pochettino with the two goal performance after facing some competition from the prolific Ricardo Pepi.
The AS Monaco forward is the favorite to be the USA's top scorer at the 2026 World Cup this summer, and is also in the hunt for the tournaments Golden Boot.
Balogun will look to add to his goal tally against Australia on Friday, with the USA hosting the Aussie's at the Seattle Stadium. The game kicks off at 3:00 PM ET, 12:00 PM PT.
