Top American Goalscorer Odds at the 2026 World Cup

The United States will co-host the 2026 World Cup this summer. Which player will lead the team in goals during the tournament?

Christian Pulisic, nicknamed 'Captain America' is already one of the greatest American soccer players of all-time, and will lead the United States Men's National Team to the 2026 World Cup in June.

The 27-year-old was favored to be the U.S. top scorer during the competition, but has since been surpassed by Folarin Balogun and Giovani Reyna.

Pulisic leads all active players in appearances (87 CAPS), and is fifth on the all-time scoring charts for the United States (33 Goals). Captain America is also a four time winner of the U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year award (2017, 2019, 2021, 2023), tying Landon Donovan's record for the most in USMNT history.

Balogun is now the favorite after the USA's 4-1 win over Paraguay, but many players on the roster have the ability to score goals in bunches.

Folarin Balogun (-800) overtakes Christian Pulisic (+1600) as the favorite to lead the USMNT in goals at the World Cup after a brace in the first match against Paraguay.

Balogun is the main striker for Mauricio Pochettino's squad, and has scored 11 goals in 28 appearances for the USMNT.

The 24-year-old has been in much better form than Pulisic, scoring 13 goals in 26 starts for AS Monaco in France. Balogun has scored four goals in his last seven club games, and scored twice against PSG in the UEFA Champions League. He scored five goals in 10 UCL matches this season.

Gio Reyna (+800) also jumped Pulisic in the odds to be the USMNT's top scorer this summer after scoring the fourth and final goal against Paraguay. Reyna came on a second half substitute and scored with final meaningful kick of the ball.

Reyna's goal was pure class. Using the outside of his right foot from the top of the 18-yard box, Reyna curled the ball just past the outstretched arms of Paraguay's goalkeeper.

Pulisic has been in a major drought for his club AC Milan, having not scored in any of his last 19 matches for the Italian side. Pulisic's last goal at the club level came on December 28, 2025 against Hellas Verona in Serie A. However, the winger did get off the mark with the U.S. in a friendly against Senegal on May 31st, and assisted against Paraguay.

Balogun is Pochettino's starter, but Ricardo Pepi (+2000) and Haji Wright (+2500) will be competing for minutes in the center forward position.

Both players are capable of finding the back of the net, but Pepi was absolutely cooking down the stretch of the season for PSV. Pepi scored six goals in his last five matches, including at least one in each game. Over the entire season, Pepi scored 16 goals in 26 matches (16 starts) in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Haji Wright start the season well for newly promoted Coventry City, but on managed one goal in his last nine matches for the club. He scored 17 goals in 40 appearances in the English Championship.

Other players who could lead the Pochettino's team in goals this summer include attacking midfielders Malik Tillman (+2000), Weston McKennie (+3300), Brenden Aaronson (+4000), and Timothy Weah (+5000). Tillman and Mckennie both started in the midfield against Paraguay, while Aaronson and Weah came off the bench.
