Angel Reese has gone from being a five-star recruit to a collegiate National Champion, and now, she's a foundational part of the WNBA's Chicago Sky.

Reese made headlines as part of the LSU Tigers team that beat Caitlin Clark and Iowa in the 2023 National Championship game. She transferred from Maryland to LSU before the title-winning 2022/23 season.

A tough two-way player, she made a big impact in her rookie season after she was drafted seventh overall in 2024.

Angel Reese is a strong power forward who has quick reflexes on the defensive end and a mix of determination, reach, and aggressiveness on the offensive end. Reese had a solid start to her WNBA career, as she led the league in rebounding, finished second to Caitlin Clark in Rookie of the Year voting, and finished 12th in MVP voting.

She pulled down a stellar 5.1 offensive rebounds per game, which helped her team create extra scoring chances on its way to finishing the season with a 13-27 record. She reached 20+ points four times, with a season-high of 25 — with 16 rebounds — against the Indiana Fever in June.

Reese averaged a double-double, and she had 10 offensive rebounds in a game twice, both times in August of her rookie season. She did not record a block until her eighth WNBA game, but she recorded two blocks in a game five times after that.

Heading into the 2025 season, she'll want to improve her shooting efficiency as she shot 50.0 percent or higher in just eight of the 34 games she played in. She shot well from the free-throw line, though, making 73.6 percent of her attempts from the stripe and indicating she has the ability to improve her shooting percentages.

Angel Reese Playing Style and Strengths

Angel Reese is an excellent rebounder, which is the strongest part of her skill set heading into the 2025 season. She averaged at least 5.0 offensive rebounds per game in her last three seasons in college, and she continued that streak as a WNBA rookie.

Reese can reach up to grab lob passes, face up to the hoop, and finish around the basket. She is effective when finishing through contact, likes to get the ball at the elbow and drive, and is fast enough to lead the break when required.

The former Maryland and LSU player gets plenty of steals, often when blitzing pick-and-roll plays or intercepting passes as a help defender.

Thanks to her competitive rivalry with Caitlin Clark on the biggest stage of Women's College Basketball, Angel Reese entered the WNBA and immediately became one of its most famous players.

With 4.9 million Instagram followers, Reese is the most followed WNBA player on the social media site. She was on the cover of Vogue magazine in January 2025, and in February 2025, she partnered with McDonald's for the Angel Reese Special meal.

Reese has endorsements from Amazon, Bose, Coach, Discord, Outback Steakhouse, Sonic, TurboTax, Wingstop, and Xfinity. She signed a deal with Reebok in October 2023, partially due to the fact that former LSU superstar men's basketball player Shaquille O'Neal is the company's president of basketball.
