Another year of UFC wraps with UFC 296 putting it in the books and, to mark it, we're ranking the 10 best Americans who have stepped into the Octagon.
There has been a lot of American talent to fight in UFC, so we narrowed it down to the top 10.
Dustin Poirier sneaks into the top 10 list at No. 10 and currently holds an MMA record of 29-8.
He is 22-8 in the UFC and a former UFC Interim Lightweight title holder. Poirier is top 10 in knockouts, knockdowns, significant strikes, and total strikes in the Lightweight division and some of his biggest wins include Conor McGregor (twice), Max Holloway, and Justin Gaethje.
Coming in at No. 9 is Justin Gaethje. He holds an MMA record of 25-4 and is 8-4 in the UFC.
Gaethje is also a former Interim Lightweight title holder and currently holds the symbolic title of 'BMF Champion'.
Gaethje has won Fight of the Night seven times and has the highest significant strike accuracy in UFC Lightweight history. Some of his biggest wins include Dustin Poirier, Tony Ferguson, and Donald Cerrone.
Next up on our list is Max Holloway at No. 8, who currently has an MMA record of 25-7 and a 21-7 UFC record.
Holloway is a former UFC Featherweight title holder, having made three title defenses in his time with the belt.
He was also the first American to ever win the Featherweight title and has accumulated the most wins in UFC Featherweight history with 20. Some of his biggest wins include Charles Oliveira, Anthony Pettis, Jose Aldo, and Brian Ortega.
Dominick Cruz, who holds an MMA record of 24-4, is 14-4 in the UFC and a two-time UFC Bantamweight champion with three title defenses in total.
He has been hampered with injuries throughout his career, but still is known as one of the best in the Bantamweight division and has signature wins over Urijah Faber and TJ Dillashaw.
Daniel Cormier retired with an MMA record of 22-3 and 19-3 in the UFC. Cormier is a former UFC Heavyweight champion and UFC Light Heavyweight champion.
He also has been inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame since his retirement. Some of the best wins of his career include Derrick Lewis, Anthony Johnson, and Stipe Miocic.
At the halfway point of our top 10 list is Chuck Liddell. He ended his UFC career in 2018 with an MMA record of 21-9 and 18-8 in the UFC.
Liddell is a former UFC Light Heavyweight champion and has four title defenses. He also is in the UFC Hall of Fame and his best wins were against Tito Ortiz and Randy Couture.
At No. 4 is Stipe Miocic, who has an MMA record of 20-4 and is 14-4 in the UFC. He is a two-time UFC Heavyweight title holder, having made a total of four title defenses.
The best wins in his career have come against Daniel Cormier and Francis Ngannou.
Breaking into the top 3 is Henry Cejudo. He has an MMA record of 16-3 and is 10-3 in the UFC.
Cejudo is a former UFC Bantamweight and Flyweight title holder, having made one title defense for each division. He is the seventh fighter to hold titles in two divisions and fourth to hold the titles at the same time.
Ranked second on our list is Demetrious Johnson, who has an MMA record of 25-4-1 and is 17-3-1 in the UFC. Johnson is a former UFC Flyweight champion and made 11 title defenses. Some of his best wins include Henry Cejudo, Tim Elliot, and Ray Borg.
Jon Jones tops our list and currently holds an MMA record of 27-1. He is 21-1 in the UFC and is the current UFC Heavyweight title holder. He is also the former UFC Light Heavyweight title holder and overall Jones has made 11 title defenses.
Additionally, he has the longest win streak in UFC history at 19 wins in a row, having not lost since 2009.
