Wolves are weighing up a move for Hajduk Split man Niko Sigur as they look to build a quad capable of earning promotion back to the Premier League.
Sky Sports News' Lyall Thomas reported that Wolves are 'keen' on signing the 22-year-old, who is expected to cost in the region of '£2.5m'.
He featured on three occasions for Canada at the World Cup, but his only start came in his nation's 3-0 defeat to Morocco in the round of 16.
Sigur -- who plied his trade in Canada for the most part at youth level -- made the permanent switch to Hajduk Split's academy setup in 2022. He made 19 appearances for the U19s in his debut 2022/23 campaign in Croatia but did feature for the first team in the latter stages of the term.
He became a regular in the senior setup in the 2023/24 season and has rarely dropped out of the team since, undoubtedly aided by the fact that he can play as a defensive midfielder and a right-back.
Renowned for his tactical awareness and composure when playing in the centre of the field, he's far from a traditional right-back when employed in the position -- frequently inverting to give Hajduk Split a numerical advantage in the engine room.
Wolves have showed their intent to make a swift return to the top-flight with the business carried out so far in the summer transfer window, signing Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez -- who both featured regularly in the Premier League last campaign -- on free transfers.
The addition of Trippier means that Wolves are well covered in the right-back department, and so Sigur may be utilised centrally in the event that the West Midlands outfit make a concrete move for the Canadian.
