According to reports, a number of clubs - including Sheffield Wednesday and Oxford United - are interested in a move for Doncaster Rovers captain Owen Bailey.
Bailey, 27, has been a key aspect of Doncaster's promotion to and consolidation in League One, since joining the club on a free transfer from Gateshead in 2023.
The Newcastle United academy graduate had an exceptional 2025/26 season for the Rovers, scoring 16 goals and registering seven assists in 55 matches from midfield across all competitions.
Despite their captain's brilliance, Doncaster finished 14th in League One last season, leading to interest in their star man.
According to transfer guru Pete O'Rourke via X, Sheffield Wednesday, Oxford United, Stockport County, Bradford City and MK Dons are all interested in a move for Owen Bailey.
Sheffield Wednesday and Oxford United, who were relegated from the Championship last season, are both said to be amongst those at the front of the race, as they look to bounce straight back to the second tier.
Potentially standing in Wednesday's way, the Owls' financial restrictions are set to play a role in their transfer activity this summer.
Reports suggest that they are unable to register new players until all outstanding creditors have been paid off. It is widely said that this has not been done yet.
Having missed out on promotion in the play-off final last season, Stockport County could strengthen their chances of finally reaching the Championship with this signing, as they look to hoover up some of League One's best.
MK Dons, who earned promotion back to the third tier last season, are probably the most ambitious side in the race for his signature, with their standing in English football currently lower than the other sides named.
