Rangers are reportedly interested in securing the signing of striker Tawanda Maswanhise from Motherwell before the transfer window shuts.
Football Insider have reported that the club are plotting a late move to sign a player who has impressed the Rangers scouting team.
The need for attacking reinforcements follows the anterior cruciate ligament injury that Youssef Chermiti suffered against Hibernian earlier this month.
With Chermiti set to be absent until 2027, manager Derek McInnes is keen to secure a replacement this month.
After a relatively underwhelming 2024/25 campaign at Motherwell following his arrival from Leicester City, Maswanhise enjoyed a standout season in 2025/26.
His tally of 17 league goals saw him top the Scottish Premiership goalscoring charts as Motherwell secured European football.
A number of teams have been linked with the Zimbabwe international but it is Rangers who are now believed to be at the front of the queue.
Rangers have had a poor start to life under the stewardship of McInnes, with the club dropping into the UEFA Conference League qualifiers following their elimination from the UEFA Europa League.
The Gers have also only picked up one point from their opening two league fixtures and the potential acquisition of Maswanhise would provide a timely boost.
