Notts County are looking to a Burnley forward in order to bolster their frontline ahead of their return to League One, according to reports.
Martin Paterson's side defeated Salford City in the League Two play-off final in May and preparations are well underway to aide their quest to become an established third tier outfit.
It's already been a busy summer around the club with as many as four summer signings arriving through the doors at Meadow Lane.
Reports from journalist Alan Nixon claim that the Magpies are eyeing a move for Burnley forward Michael Mellon.
The 22-year-old netted seven times in 14 League Two starts whilst on loan with Oldham Athletic last season, including a hat-trick against Tranmere. Mellon was also on target for Oldham during their 3-1 loss against Notts County, potentially catching the eye of Paterson.
Across the course of a grueling League One campaign, Mellon will of course get his fair share of minutes, however, he has huge competition in the form of Alassana Jatta.
Jatta, 27, has netted 41 goals since making the move to Nottinghamshire in 2024 and was named in the League Two Team of the Season in 2024/25.
Paterson's men are 9/1 to secure back-to-back promotions and reach the second tier of English football for the first time in more than 30 years.
