Check out our list of the goalkeepers to have made the most appearances at the World Cup since 1990.
Having a world class goalkeeper between the sticks has repeatedly proven to be conducive to success at the highest levels of international football, and the calibre of names on this list certainly reflects that.
All of the top five goalkeepers to feature on this list have won the World Cup for their country, but none have made more total appearances at the finals than Manuel Neuer.
The Bayern Munich star has been credited with revolutionising the role of the modern goalkeepers at the highest levels of the game with his distribution and positioning.
Given the unenviable task of succeeding the likes of Oliver Kahn and Jens Lehmann as Die Mannschaft's No 1, Neuer made his World Cup debut in 2010 aged just 24.
Neuer would go on to play a key role as Germany secured their fourth World Cup in 2014 where he won the Golden Glove, and has remained a key figure for his country in the years since.
Playing at his fifth World Cup this summer Neuer made history by notching his 23rd appearance at the tournament, surpassing France legend Hugo Lloris.
But who else joins them on the list? Read on to find out.
