L'Equipe have not held back in their assessment of the France players after they crashed out of the World Cup following defeat to Spain.
Les Bleus went into the semi-final as favourites but they failed to land a glove on Spain, who produced somewhat of a master class to reach their second-ever World Cup final.
Luis de la Fuente's men limited France to just three shots on target all night, having to wait 81 minutes before calling Unai Simon into action in the Spain goal. Michael Olise, Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe, a trio who had looked unstoppable at times throughout the tournament, failed to cause a moments worry for the La Roja backline.
Mbappe, who entered the last four clash in the mix to win the Golden Ball, received a lowly 3/10 for his performance by French sports media outlet L'Equipe.
Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne was awarded a 2/10, the joint-lowest rating on the pitch after he was adjudged to have fouled Lamine Yamal in the box, resulting in a penalty for the opening Spain goal.
Olise and Dembele were given the same score after failing to have any meaningful impact on the game at all.
The main difference in the game came in midfield where Spain were utterly dominant from start to finish. Aurelien Tchouameni and Adrien Rabiot were powerless to stop Rodri and Fabian Ruiz, receiving ratings of 3/10 and 5/10 respectively.
William Saliba was not awarded a score after injury forced him off in the first half, his centre-back partner Dayot Upemacano receiving a 5/10, the same as right-back Jules Kounde; probably France's best player in an underwhelming display.
Outgoing France manager Didier Deschamps was awarded a 3/10 on his penultimate game in charge of the national team.
