According to reports, Ibrahima Konate looks set to depart Anfield after five trophy-laden years at the expiry of his current contract.
Initially joining in 2021 for £36m from RB Leipzig, French centre back Konate has been a key part of a Liverpool side, which has won two League Cups, an FA Cup and a Premier League title.
It has now been reported by journalist Ben Jacobs via X that Ibrahima Konate is now set to leave Liverpool, with no agreement reached on new terms.
Despite having a poor 2025/26 season, the 27 year-old is widely regarded as one of the top players in his position globally, with many expecting him to have the pick of some of Europe's best clubs.
With that in mind, let's take a look at some potential destinations for the Frenchman.
The club most heavily linked to Konate's signature, Real Madrid could make a move to tempt the Frenchman to the Bernabeu.
With an a history of signing big names on free transfers and possessing an already ageing backline, the signing of the Liverpool man would be in keeping with Los Blancos' recent history.
While it was previously reported that Real Madrid had pulled out of the race to sign Konate, they remain one of the few clubs who could reasonably afford and attract the 27 year-old to their club.
Having already been linked to Konate on two occasions - once before he joined Liverpool and then again back in November 2025 - Bayern Munich could be a destination for the Frenchman this summer.
The Bavarians have a storied history of hoovering up the Bundesliga's best, with Konate one of the few to have moved abroad rather than to Germany's top side.
Not to mention, Bayern's main weak point in recent seasons has been there defence, with Jonathan Tah, Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min Jae and Hiroki Ito all lacking world class defensive ability.
With that in mind, a return to a country, in which he spent four seasons, could be on the cards.
After a poor 2025/26 season, which saw Chelsea fail to secure European football for next campaign, incoming manager Xabi Alonso will want somewhat of a rebuild.
With an expectation that Alonso will revert to his 343 formation, which was crucial to his invincible Bundesliga title with Bayer Leverkusen, defensive reinforcements will be required.
Chelsea's current list of centre backs - Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Jorrell Hato, Benoit Badiashile and Levi Colwill - is severely lacking in experience, winning mentality and overall quality, leaving space for Konate to join.
Signing players in their prime has not been the model for Chelsea under their new ownership, but if they are to compete again at the very top, players like the Liverpool man are just what's required.
With Juventus set to compete in the UEFA Europa League next season, significant improvements are required to their squad.
The Old Lady have had a severe decline from their peak, which saw them win nine Serie A titles in a row between 2011/12 and 2019/20, with their ability to attract Europe's top talent dwindling.
As a result, signing a player of the calibre of Ibrahima Konate would be a statement acquisition in Juventus' current standing and would be an announcement to Italy and the rest of Europe that they are back at the big table.
Though financially this may be a difficult deal for Juventus to complete, Konate would be a top signing for one of Serie A's fallen giants.
After his poor 2025/26 season, could Konate chase a paycheck rather than elite level football?
As an ever growing division, the Saudi Pro League continues to look to attract the highest calibre of player possible, with links to a number of the best players globally refusing to go away.
At 27 years-old, Konate would be a statement coup for the state-backed League, with an eye watering salary likely to be offered to the French centre back.
