Everton and Newcastle face off on Thursday evening in the EFL Cup, the first of two clashes in five days between the pair.
After going unbeaten in their first eight games of the season in all competitions, the Toffees have lost twice on the bounce in the Premier League, a 2-0 loss at home to Chelsea and one on the road at Arsenal by the same scoreline.
There is a hint of unrest setting in at the Hill Dickinson following two wins in their last 15 Premier League games, so David Moyes may see progression to the EFL Cup quarter-finals as a good opportunity to appease the fanbase.
Newcastle also started their campaign well, going unbeaten in the first five in all competitions -- including wins over West Brom and Millwall to reach this stage of the competition -- but they have seen a drop off that has led Matthias Jaissle being questioned by the Magpies faithful.
Three losses in their last five is far from ideal for the German, especially two 4-1 defeats at the hands of Leeds United and Coventry City. He may well need a cup run himself to quieten the noise at St James' Park.
The two sides face off again in the North East on Monday 2nd November.
