The Bernard Martin Cowley-trained Polly Poppins finished well adrift of the reopposing Chosen Shant and L’Amiral Fromentin at Wexford last month, but she’s attractively handicapped on her best form and warrants a small each-way interest in an open event.
The six-year-old is yet to win in 14 starts under Rules, though she’s by no means devoid of ability, as she showed when touched off by a head over hurdles at Tramore last August.
She’s only had three starts over fences to date and posted a Racing Post Rating of 94 (within 3lb of her hurdles best) when third on her chasing debut. She made a mistake at a vital stage when finishing eighth of 14 at this course 22 days earlier and she’s since been eased 3lb to a career low official mark of 86.

Paddy Twomey’s Concorde Landed impressed when winning by five lengths on her debut at Naas earlier this month and has star potential.
The daughter of Sioux Nation, who runs in the black and yellow colours of Bond Thoroughbred Limited (Reg Bond), cost €200,000 at the Irish Tattersalls Breeze-up Sale in May and looks worth every penny of that, such was the ease in which she came clear of a one-raced Aidan O’Brien-trained filly inside the final furlong.
Rider Billy Lee was full of praise for her afterwards and suggested a trip to York’s Ebor Festival for a crack at the Group 2 Lowther Stakes could well be on her agenda, as well as the Group 1 Moyglare Sud Stakes at The Curragh in September. She’ll need to be winning this if either target is to remain realistic.

Hachiman shaped like a first win for Ruth Carr’s stable might be just around the corner when third at Leicester at the beginning of the month.
The four-year-old had been in freefall in the ratings since arriving from Simon and Ed Crisford at the end of last year and was contesting 0-55 company and 1m2f for the first time at the Midlands track.
Slowly away, he found himself with plenty to do 3f out, but he gradually picked his way through the field under James Sullivan and hit the line strongly, just a length off the winner. He runs off the same mark and could be set to cash in against some mostly out of form rivals.
