The Adrian Paul Keatley-trained Influencer Man has shown a lot of promise in two runs so far and has plenty going for him now switching to handicaps.
The two-year-old son of Starman, who was gelded prior to making his debut, finished last of four on his introduction over 6f in an Ayr maiden last month.
However, there was more encouragement in the run than that bare result implies, as he was beaten by just a total of a length-and-a-quarter and recorded a Racing Post Rating of 72.
He bettered that by 2lb when runner-up over 5f at Ripon a fortnight later and was doing much of his strongest work in the closing stages, suggesting this stiffer track will be very much in his favour.
Even the smallest amount of improvement should see him bang there off this opening official mark of 75.
16:30 Lingfield - Bone Marra @ 7/4
Olly Sangster has his string in fine form at present and he has a strong chance of another winner, courtesy of the ultra-consistent Bone Marra.
The selection has proved incredibly effective on the artificial surfaces, winning three of his five outings and finishing second on the other two.
He’s done the majority of his racing on Tapeta, but he looked every bit at home on Polytrack when runner-up, despite a troubled passage, on his only previous visit to Lingfield over 6f in April.
He recorded a career-best Racing Post Rating of 92 when beaten by just a neck over this distance at Wolverhampton last month and, although he’s been put up another pound for that to an official mark of 86, he very likely remains a step ahead of the handicapper.
19:15 Nottingham - Diane Chasserresse @ 4/1
This race has an open look to it, but the Owen Burrows-trained Diane Chasseresse is bred to relish the step up to middle distances and could prove much better than her opening mark of 63.
The daughter of Havana Grey hinted at ability in three novice/maiden starts, particularly on her debut over 7f at Lingfield in May when she ran to a Racing Post Rating of 62.
She wasn’t far off that figure over a mile at Windsor last time, the three-year-old keeping on steadily into sixth following a slow start and after suffering minor interference on a couple of occasions.
A half-sister to useful 7f-2m winner Alfred Boucher, she’s from the family of Mores Wells and Galient, who won races at 1m4f and beyond, so has potential for significant improvement now that she tackles 1m2f for the first time.
