The Ger Lyons-trained THIS THAT didn't see which way Joseph O'Brien's runaway winner Star Of State went when finishing a remote fourth on his debut at Leopardstown last month, but there was a lot to like about the way in which he picked off rivals late on.
The son of Sergei Prokofiev, who cost 65,000gns as a yearling, found himself a long way back turning in, but made notable progress inside the final furlong under considerate handling from Colin Keane, finishing within a length-and-a-half of the third.
He was well found in the market beforehand (11/2 second-favourite) and could well prove a different proposition with that experience behind him. This extra half-furlong is clearly going to suit.

Marco Botti's ROCKET BOY was a friendless 22/1 chance on his debut at Yarmouth last month, but proved those negative market vibes all wrong by running out a cosy winner.
The son of Soldier's Call won by just half-a-length and there was little to separate the first home, but his performance deserved to be upgraded, having been slowly away and raced in last for much of the race behind a very steady pace.
He was still in the rear when the dash for home began around 2f out, but he made rapid progress once asked to close and got the front entering the final half-furlong.
The second and third are now rated 82 and 79 respectively, so that was a bright start for the 65,000gns purchase and he looks well capable of making his presence felt in this Listed feature.

Alan Brown's PRINCESS NIYLA hasn't enjoyed the rub of the green in recent defeats over a mile, but she's acquitted herself extremely well in the circumstances and looks primed to end a lengthy losing run now returning to the scene of her last two successes.
The six-year-old has by no means been a prolific winner in her career - winning just three of her 40 starts to date - but she's on a good mark at present, 5lb lower than when scoring over this course-and-distance in May last year.
