Just four of the world’s top 50 female golfers will be missing from this week’s Evian Championship and, not for the first time, all eyes will be on Nelly Korda, who has won four times on the LPGA Tour this year and been out of the top two in just two of her nine tournaments.
It is not surprising to see the world number one as a short-priced favourite for the penultimate Major of the year, but French examination is one where she has not generally flourished.
Korda’s best finish has been eighth in her eight attempts to win this event, and while she is plainly the woman to beat, there could be others further down the list who could have a big say in proceedings.
Best Bet - Haeran Ryu each-way @ 14/1
Alternative Bet - Gaby Lopez each-way @ 25/1
Alternative Bet - Brooke Henderson each-way @ 45/1
Best Bet: Haeran Ryu each-way @ 14/1
Haeran Ryu celebrated her first Major success at the Women’s PGA Championship two weeks ago and she may not have long to wait to collect the second of the game’s biggest prizes.
The South Korean has been knocking on the door for a while having posted four Major top 10s in the last two-and-a-half years, and everything came together at Hazeltine, when she recovered from an opening 73 to claim a two-shot victory.
She can look back fondly on her appearance at Evian-les-Bains in 2024 when she finished fifth having shot an opening 66 and then a closing 65.
And there should not be too much concern that she missed the cut last year because an opening 79 never really gave her much of a chance of making the weekend and her second round 70 was still respectable.
Ryu has finished worse than 14th in just two of her 11 tournaments this year and the swift addition of another Major to her resume should not be ruled out.
Alternative Bet: Gaby Lopez each-way @ 25/1
Mexico’s Gaby Lopez is another consistent performer who could go well despite the fact she has not posted an LPGA victory since the 2022 Dana Open.
Her final round of 68 was the best Sunday spin at Hazeltine and was enough to earn her a tie of 12th spot, three weeks after she finished alongside Charley Hull as runner-up to the prolific Korda at the US Women’s Open.
Lopez was third at the 2023 Evian and ninth last year when a second-round 74 cost her.
To finish four shots off the pace was agonising in those circumstances but there is scope for her to finish a lot closer this time.
Alternative Bet: Brooke Henderson each-way @ 45/1
As far as outsiders are concerned, former champion Brooke Henderson is interesting five years after she claimed the Evian title.
She was also second the following year when she was unable to keep up with home favourite Celine Boutier, who claimed a six-shot victory, and there are finally signs of life for the Canadian, who had a disappointing first half of 2026.
Henderson was an encouraging third at the Women’s PGA when a closing 72 took her just out of contention, but she has two other top-10 finishes at Evian-les-Bains and deserves to be respected in the battle this year.
