The 2026 Danish Golf Championship, just the 12th running of the event, is being staged just east of Odense this week at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Great Northern.

Celli is a good putter and if he can find enough fairways he could easily be one to watch and outrun long odds.

It is hard to believe one or two Danes will not be in the mix come Sunday evening with Jacob Skov Olesen taken to be in that group.
Olesen, like Celli, was in the Dominican Republic at the Corales Puntacana while the great and the good were at Royal Birkdale for The Open, and the 27-year-old made the trip worthwhile.
Olesen shot 67-69-67-68 for a tie for sixth spot, just three shots away from the winning score.
That is now five top-seven finishes this season for a player who signed off 2025 by finishing 11th at the Tour Championship.

Another player who has chalked up a handful of top 10s in 2026 is Marcus Armitage, with a runner-up spot at the Soudal Open in Belgium at the end of May his best effort.
As a former Tour winner he knows how to get the job done and admits he is playing well enough to go in again.
Armitage ranks in the top 50 on Tour this season in greens in regulation, putting and stroke average, and we have seen several times this year that when he puts it all together he can challenge in more illustrious fields than this one.

This will be the 12th running of the Danish Golf Championship, which was first staged in 2014.
This year's event is for the first time being staged at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Great Northern in Kerteminde, a 7,314-yard par-72 with water in play on 11 holes.
The signature hole at the Great Northern has to be the 18th, a par five with an island green.
Bernd Wiesberger is in the field and the Austrian is the only two-time winner of the Danish Championship, beating Robert MacIntyre to the title in 2019 and then defending his crown (2020 was cancelled) in 2021 when he stormed to a five-stroke success, the biggest margin of victory in the tournament's short history.
Marco Penge is the reigning champion but the Englishman will not be back in Denmark to defend his title.
Denmark's Rasmus Hojgaard leads the home charge and as the winner in 2023 and runner-up last year (albeit on different tracks) he will have his backers.
