Scott Twine potential next club; Bristol City braced for bids for playmaker

Bristol City face a fight to keep hold of Scott Twine, with reports suggesting several clubs are planning a bid in the next few weeks.

The 27-year-old has two years left on his contract at Ashton Gate, but he is now being linked with a move away after failing to start either of Bristol City's two games this season.

Twine played just 22 minutes against Walsall in the EFL Cup, and he was then an unused substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Millwall last weekend.

Transfer correspondent Pete O'Rourke claims several clubs are planning a bid due to a lack of game time under new manager Michael Skubala.

The Robins have already signed Lorent Tolaj, Lisav Naif Eissat, Sam Greenwood, Sam Tickle, Jed Wallace, Dom Ballard, Gibson Yah and Brad Collins, and it would appear that former Burnley man Twine is now available for transfer.

Sheffield United

Sheffield United have yet to splash the cash this summer, but Chris Wilder is in the market for a playmaker after Gustavo Hamer joined Coventry City earlier this month.

The Blades have also sold midfielder Andre Brooks and Wilder needs to freshen up his squad. Only Matt Doherty and Romelle Donovan have made the move to Bramall Lane and Twine would certainly add some quality in the final third.

Twine scored 11 goals and picked up another 10 assists in all competitions last season and he only missed one game in the Championship.

Birmingham City

Birmingham missed out on the playoffs last season, but the Blues board has kept the faith with manager Chris Davies.

The additions of Jhon Solis, Kristoffer Lund, Luis Vazquez, Dael Fry and Max Bird have boosted Davies's squad, but Birmingham only have Kanya Fujimoto in their squad, who plays as a central attacking midfielder.

Twine's ability to play wide or as a second striker would also give Davies further options in the final third, while he is also known for his dangerous set-pieces.

As a previous Championship winner at Burnley, Twine would add some vital experience to the Birmingham squad as they look to make the playoffs at the very least this season.

Bolton Wanderers

Bolton are back in the second tier and will look to use the next few weeks to build a competitive squad to avoid relegation.

Steven Schumacher has yet to splash the cash, with the Trotters having spent no more than £2million.

The fee for Twine could be a sticking point for the Lancashire club, but a deal for the playmaker would be a huge signal of intent from the Wanderers.

West Ham

Back in April, SportsBoom reported that West Ham were open to paying £8million for Twine's services.

The Hammers were reportedly keen to sign Twine in January, but their recent relegation may have altered their plans.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has stayed put, but the club have already signed midfielders Arne Engels, Manor Solomon and Keiber Lamadrid, while a move for Leeds United's Joel Piroe is thought to be close.

The Hammers have yet to reignite their interest in Twine, but the recent sales of Mateus Fernandes, Crysencio Summerville and Freddie Potts mean they are likely to have the funds to do the deal without much hassle.
