Bearing the name of England's second city, Birmingham City were formed in 1875 but were originally named Small Heath Alliance before taking on their current form in 1943.
Nicknamed the Blues, Birmingham were the first champions of the Football League Second Division and have spent half of their history in the top tier of English football, although they currently ply their trade in the Championship, the second tier.
The first English team to reach a major European final, Birmingham have won two major honours in their history: the League Cup in 1963 and 2011.
