The League of Ireland resumes this weekend with a mouthwatering clash between clubs on opposite trajectories.
Last season's runners-up in the title race, Derry City, find themselves 18 points off the pace after a seven-game winless run.
Under-fire Candystripes boss Tiernan Lynch said he "firmly believes I can turn this around", but a strong restart is essential if they are to haul themselves back into contention.
Bohemians, meanwhile, hit the pause button in excellent spirits after their 3-1 victory away against Sligo Rovers.
In one of their most complete performances of the season, Douglas James‑Taylor, Colm Whelan and Connor Parsons all found the net, while Harry Vaughan and Dawson Devoy ran the game from midfield.
Bohs looked sharper, fitter and more cohesive than at any point this year and, with their injury list easing, Alan Reynolds' side will feel they can take points off anyone.
Derry, however, remain formidable at home and will be determined to lay down a marker.
With both teams chasing European places and the margins tightening at the top, this promises to be a high‑quality, high‑intensity encounter.
Best Bet – Bohemians to win @ 13/10
Alternative Bet – Over 9 corners @ 5/6
Bet Builder – Double Chance - Draw or Bohemians, Douglas James-Taylor to score & Most goals in 2nd half @ 11/2
Best Bet: Bohemians to win @ 13/10
Derry are rarely the underdogs at home, but their recent sequence of results has been dire. The Candystripes have drawn five and lost two of their last seven and managed to score only five goals across that run.
Just as concerning for Lynch will be the manner of the goals they have been conceding, such as the lapse in concentration that allowed Dundalk to retake the lead within two minutes of Derry’s equaliser last time out.
Their wonderful volleyed leveller by Cameron Dummigan, a goal of the season contender, probably flies into the stands nine times out of ten, and Derry did not create many clear-cut chances at Oriel Park.
Bohemians were excellent against Sligo, albeit that performance came against a patched‑up side missing seven players. It was their fourth win in five and keeps them within striking distance of Shamrock Rovers in top spot.
Derry will offer far sterner resistance, but the Dubliners still look good enough to take all three points back to the capital.
They won 1-0 at Brandywell in February and could easily repeat that sort of scoreline on Friday.
Alternative Bet: Over 9 corners @ 5/6
Despite their recent struggles, the Candystripes continue to rack up corners in games with Lynch’s side earning five against Dundalk.
There were 11 in total in that game and 14 in Bohs’ dominant win over Sligo Rovers last time out.
These two clubs are closely matched in terms of corners per game with Derry’s matches averaging exactly 10 so far this season and Bohemians’ contests rounding out at 9.95 per game.
Given the hosts’ desperation for points at this stage of the campaign, they may open the game up in search of goals and allow enough space to develop to produce at least 10 corners again.
Draw or Bohemians
Douglas James-Taylor to score
Most goals in 2nd half
Pays 11/2
The hosts, who have failed to win five of their last six home games, are opposable in the Double Chance market against a confident visiting team.
Bohs striker Douglas James-Taylor was on the scoresheet against Sligo Rovers last time out to make it three goals in his last five appearances (four starts).
But it may take a while for the deadlock to be broken at Brandywell, with Bohs having scored 11 of their last 16 goals after half-time.
Given City have not scored a first-half goal in any of their last three, it makes sense to include most goals in the second half in this Bet Builder.
