Australia odds to win the World Cup

Australia head to their sixth consecutive World Cup finals in search of their first trophy win on the world stage.

After a 32-year World Cup hiatus between 1974 and 2006, Australia have been an ever present in the tournament since, reaching the last 16 on two occasions.

Their most recent performance at the World Cup - at the 2022 Qatar edition - saw them reach that stage for the second time in their history, eventually losing 2-1 to eventual winners Argentina.

Currently 27th in the world rankings, Australia are without a win since beating Canada in a friendly back in October 2025, whilst their last competitive win came against Saudi Arabia in June 2025, running out 2-1 winners in World Cup qualifying.

Unsurprisingly, Australia are one of the many outsiders at this 48-team World Cup, with the Socceroos priced at 500/1 to lift the trophy.

Such is the difficulty of the competition this year, Australia are priced at 4/1 to reach the round of 16 stage for a second consecutive tournament.

In what is an extremely tough group, Australia are 5/6 to finish at the bottom of their group standings, with tough tests against Paraguay, Turkiye and host nation USA ahead.

As a result of their extremely tough group, which is likely to see them eliminated before the knockout rounds, Australia are 25/1 to finish as the lowest goalscoring nation.
