Deportivo La Coruna v Real Madrid Prediction: 15/8 Real to win and concede at the Riazor

Deportivo La Coruna are back in Spain's top flight for the first time since 2018 and they conclude their pre-season schedule on Wednesday with a huge test against La Liga giants Real Madrid.

The hosts have spent four of the last six seasons in the third tier but they finished second in last term's Segunda Division to earn a place back in the big time.

Depor have made a host of new signings over the summer, including veteran forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and goalkeeper Leo Roman from Mallorca, and both are expected to be involved on Wednesday.

Real Madrid head to the Riazor unbeaten after three pre-season games, with two wins and one draw. This is Los Blancos' penultimate friendly fixture as they also take on Schalke on Saturday before beginning their season at Espanyol on 22nd August.

Real, who finished second in La Liga last term, have also been active in the summer by signing Marc Cucurella, Carlos Espi, Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate, Bernardo Silva and Yan Diomande.

However, their biggest success in the transfer market was convincing key forward Vinicius Junior to extend his stay amid interest from Arsenal.

Deportivo La Coruna v Real Madrid Prediction

Best Bet - Real Madrid to win and both teams to score @ 15/8

Real Madrid won't have their best XI on the pitch from the start. Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni are expected to sit this one out alongside new recruits Cucurella and Konate, but they should still name a team strong enough to beat Deportivo.

Los Blancos have won two and drawn one of their three pre-season games, despite missing a few stars, but they are yet to keep a clean sheet this summer.

Depor have scored nine goals across their six pre-season fixtures, failing to score in one of those games.

This is the hosts' final preperation outing before they begin their La Liga campaign against Elche on 17th August.

They will be keen to finish on a high, but look unlikely to deny Real Madrid a win. However, they can at least score.

Alternative Bet - Over 3.5 goals @ 11/10

Real Madrid have seen both teams score in all of their pre-season games and all three have gone over 2.5 goals, with two seeing at least four goals scored in total.

Vinicius Jr played for 45 minutes against Ferencvaros in their last friendly and Endrick is expected to start, while Aubameyang will line up for the home side.

Both teams will have some quality forwards in action and both have been in good scoring form over the summer, so we could be in for a fairly high-scoring game and over 3.5 goals seems reasonable.

This is the first meeting between these sides since 2018 but historically they do tend to put on a show.

At least four goals have been scored in seven of the last 11 meetings, including one friendly.

Deportivo La Coruna v Real Madrid Bet Builder Tip

  • Both teams to score

  • Real Madrid to win both halves

  • Most goals in first half

Pays 22/1

This bet builder combines the both teams to score aspect of our main bet, alongside two further selections of Real Madrid winning both halves and the first half to produce the most goals.

This is a friendly game so neither side will go full throttle, but there is a huge gulf in quality nonetheless.

Real could comfortably dominate from the off even if they aren't quite at 100 per cent themselves. That thinking indicates taking the visitors to win both halves makes sense.

Real should go with their stronger available best XI in the first half before making changes at the break, and Depor may well take the same approach.

With the better players likely to be on show in the opening 45 minutes to an hour, there is a good chance the first half will provide the most goals.
