The 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League season is fast approaching and we tell you everything you need to know.

When is FPL 2026/27 being released?

It's yet to be confirmed as to when the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League game will be released.

The official FPL website have already confirmed numerous changes to the games -- including 11 player position changes -- and so you'd suspect that the official launch is just around the corner.

In the last 10 seasons, the game has dropped no later than 25 days before Gameweek 1. Monday 27th July will mark 25 days before Arsenal take on Coventry in Gameweek 1, and so we can expect the game to be released some time close to that day.

How to play

Every FPL manager starts the season with £100m, and with this sum you assemble a 15-man squad (two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three forwards).

Within your 15-man squad, you can select a maximum of three players from any single Premier League team.

Before every Gameweek deadline, you select your starting 11 in a formation of your choice, and their real-life performances in the Premier League will determine how many points you score. When setting your starting XI before the deadline, you will also select a captain; your captain's original points tally is doubled.

Each manager gets one transfer per Gameweek, meaning you can make a change to your 15-man squad if you wish. If you don't wish to make a transfer, you can roll it over and make two the following week. You can roll over a maximum of five free transfers.

Making more transfers than your allocated free transfers will cost you -4 points per extra transfer.

Players can fluctuate in price, depending on the number of managers transferring them in and out.

Scoring

While some scoring is the same across the board -- e.g. minutes played and yellow cards -- other contributions, like goals, are rewarded with varied points depending on which position that the player plays.

Changes

The 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League season game will include a number of changes. These are as followed:

Live updates to mini-leagues

Your position in the global standings and all other leagues will be updated continuously during matches, meaning that you won't have to wait until the end of the Gameweek to check your rankings.

After the 20 minute mark, projected bonus points will also be added to those players applicable; this too will change and update as the contest progresses.

Price Change Predictor

This tool will use data to track the transfer activity of every player. This will indicate which players are likely to rise and fall in price every day.

The data will always be an indication and doesn't necessarily guarantee a price change.

Bonus point system

Players will no longer be handed a BPS reduction of -1 every time that they are tackled.

A player will now earn 1 BPS for every three CBI (clearances, blocks and interceptions) instead of getting 1 BPS for every two CBI like the 2025/26 campaign.

Goalkeepers will earn 2 BPS for any save and an additional 1 BPS for saving a big chance.

Position changes

11 players have seen their position changed ahead of the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League season.

Chips

Each manager will have two sets of the Wildcard, Free Hit, Triple Captain and Bench Boost chips across the 2026/27 season. This means that eight chips will be available in total.

Each chip will be available to use in each half of the campaign. The first set of chips must be played before the Gameweek 19 deadline passes and can't be carried over into the second half of the term.
