If you're falling behind the pack in FPL, the Triple Captain chip provides the perfect opportunity for you to gain rank and outperform your mini league rivals.
While the Triple Captain doesn't allow you to make drastic changes to your side like the Free Hit and Wildcard chips, it does enable you to gain extra points from a player of your choice.
Below, we tell you everything you need to know about the fundamental FPL chip...
While your captain's points are usually doubled, the use of the Triple Captain chip means your captain's points will be multiplied by three for a single Gameweek.
For example, if you captain Erling Haaland in a Gameweek where he scores 13 points, you will receive 26 points, while if you Triple Captain the Manchester City forward in that Gameweek, you will receive 39 points.
Managers can use the Triple Captain chip twice in one season, with the first chip available to use between Gameweek 1 and Gameweek 19, while the second chip is available from Gameweek 20 onwards.
The chip can be cancelled at any time before the Gameweek deadline. You will not be able to activate any other chips ((Free Hit, Wildcard, Bench Boost) in the same Gameweek that you have activated your Triple Captain.
Best FPL Captains for Gameweek 25
There is no right or wrong time to activate the Triple Captain chip, but most managers will aim to use it during a double gameweek, where some teams - mainly due to fixture congestion and the impact of other competitions - play two matches in a single gameweek. This provides your Triple Captain more minutes to accumulate points.
If there are no double gameweeks scheduled, like the first half of the 2025/26 term, aim to activate the Triple Captain chip on a player who has a favourable fixture, preferably at home.
