Free-scoring Chelsea take on a stubborn Everton outfit at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
There were question marks around the Blues going into the international break on the back of a 2-2 draw at home to Hull City and a humbling 3-0 defeat at Brentford, though some of those have been answered with the nature of the 5-1 win against Bournemouth last time out.
Only Brighton have kept more clean sheets in the Premier League than David Moyes's Toffees, whose three goals against represents the meanest defence in the division.
But the Football Betting Club's Mark Stinchcombe is backing Chelsea's formidable front three to breach the Everton back line.
Best Bet: Joao Pedro to score, Morgan Rogers to score, Cole Palmer to assist @ 20/1
"I've got a bet at 20/1, which I’m quite excited about and keen to put forward.
"In betting, week to week, you look at individual match-ups, whether that’s teams or players. I also quite like to come with up with a strategy for certain teams that you can back until the edge disappears.
"I’m wondering if that’s what may be found with Chelsea. They’ve obviously been quite chaotic to start the season. They’re the third-highest scorers in the league, only behind Manchester City and Brighton, but they have the worst defence in the league.
"I’m going to focus on them going forward. They’re 11/10 away at Everton. If you look at them offensively, it’s no surprise who is doing a lot of the heavy lifting: Joao Pedro, Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer. They’ve scored 11 of their 15 goals this season and are also responsible for seven of their 13 assists.
"I’m going to focus on those three players, and I think I can engineer a nice Bet Builder involving all three of them. Joao Pedro has five in five, so I’m going to back him to score. Morgan Rogers has four in six, so I’m going to back him to score as well. Cole Palmer has only scored twice, but he has three assists, so I’m going to back him to register an assist. That gives us a price of 20/1.
"These three players have played five games together, and this bet has already won three times. That’s a really good strike rate. At 20/1, you don’t have to be right too often to be profitable.
"A really nice way to put this bet into perspective is that we’re backing two players to score and one player to assist. We only need Chelsea to score two goals. Chelsea are odds-on to score two goals, yet we’re saying we can go up to 20/1 if their three most likely players contribute.
"They’re 11/4 to score over 2.5 goals. Again, it might take at least three goals to get all three players involved, but 11/4 versus 20/1 is obviously a huge difference.
"You can play it a little bit safer. For example, you could back all three players simply to score or assist at 4/1. However, I haven’t mentioned Everton, who can be quite miserly. Jordan Pickford has a decent record in terms of clean sheets over his Premier League career, and we know David Moyes can be very defence-first.
"I’m going for a bigger long shot, with it being harder opposition. However, I definitely think this is something that can be backed longer term.
"With Chelsea not been involved in Europe, they’ve had the whole week off to prepare. We probably saw in that 5–1 victory against Bournemouth. Xabi Alonso having time on the training ground, and players such as Cole Palmer not being away on international duty with England. Ultimately, he'll be able to get his ideas across.
"Chelsea are a sleeping powerhouse. Given how much investment they’ve had over the years, we’re just waiting for them to click, and Xabi Alonso could be the man to unlock all that potential."
