We're set for a blockbuster showdown at the Scotstoun Stadium on Saturday night as Josh Kerr locks horns with fellow Scotsman Jake Wightman in a battle for Commonwealth Games glory.
But while most of the eyes will be fixated on two home heroes aiming to make their country proud, there's a speedy Australian star hoping to cause an upset in Cam Myers.
Kerr, however, insists that his and Wightman's rivals are going to have to up their game in front of a partisan Glasgow crowd.
“It's going to be a war out there,” declared the Scot.
“It's the home crowd, it’s our track, it's where we learned, it's our crowd. The rest of the guys want to take what’s ours. They will have to come with something on Saturday night because they are not going to get it easy.”
The men's mile final has been the event all of Glasgow has been waiting for, especially off the back of Kerr's world record moment in London a fortnight ago.
The 1500m world champion and Olympic silver medallist had been building publicity for his Project 222 assault on the mile world record and Kerr didn't disappoint the expectant 60,000 crowd inside the London Stadium.
Kerr shattered the men's mile world record with a historic time of 3 minutes and 42.66 seconds, breaking Hicham El Guerrouj's 27-year benchmark.
His appearance in Wednesday's heats delivered a more subdued affair, crossing the line with a time of 3:58.57 to win from Kenya’s former world champion Timothy Cheruiyot.
It was in the second heat where the pace picked up, and it was Myers who set the fastest time with a 3:53.85 from Wightman’s 3:54.05 to remind everyone of their gold credentials for Saturday's race.
